Using CAMAC with Computers
Typically, a data acquisition system consists of a computer connected to a group of electronic devices. The computer sends instructions which go through a series of devices, and the devices respond by collecting data and sending it back to the computer. In a basic CAMAC system, the computer is connected to a crate via an interface module.
Sometimes additional computers can enhance the performance of a system. Some computers are built in the form of a CAMAC module. Since a modular computer can greatly increase the processing power of a system, one is often used in addition to an external computer.
